Anyone can enjoy the relaxing activity of organic gardening. But for someone just starting out it can seem very overwhelming, and even a little bit intimidating. So, what exactly should a novice learn and do when they want to start growing plants? Well, read the tips below, of course!

If you are gardening, be wary of stink bugs in your garden, especially in the autumn. Fruits, peppers and tomatoes are among the foods they love to eat. Decrease their presence as much as possible to avoid them wreaking havoc in your garden.

Before you plant seeds, pre-soak them for a night somewhere dark. Place your seeds in a container filled with water. This will keep your seeds hydrated and give you a little head start with your growing. This increases the chances of survival for the seeds.

If you have planted vegetables within your garden, make sure that they are getting at least six hours of sunlight each day. Most vegetables need at least that much sun for optimal growth speed. Some flowers have the same requirement for growth.

Carefully plan your garden first. This way, when the sprouts start shooting up, you can recall where you planted each plant. It’s also a good way to keep smaller plants from getting swallowed up by the rest of your garden.

Before you start working in your garden, purchase a wheelbarrow and a good kneeling stool. It can be very uncomfortable on the knees when working so close to the ground, so a light, portable stool makes gardening easier. Gardening involves moving heavy objects and dirt, so a wheelbarrow makes for a wise investment.

Choose one stand-out plant to be a focal point. In any good garden design, a focal point will grab the eye and hold it there. The focal point should be a plant totally different from the others around it.

If you want to get children in on the fun, plant a few strawberries, everbearing if possible. For kids, there are few things as fun as picking fruit fresh from the garden. Your children will be much more interesting in helping out if they know they’ll get to enjoy some tasty strawberries.

Using aspirin water will help your plants fight diseases. One and half tablets of aspirin in a couple gallons of water will be a wonderful help to the plants you have. All you need to do is spray the plants with the solution in order to battle common ailments. Spray them once about every three weeks.

Before planting your favorite perennials, you must first prepare the ground. Simply use a spade or small shovel to get under the grass or turf and flip it over. Then, using wood chips, cover the area to a depth of three or four inches. Let the area sit for a couple weeks, then begin digging into it and planting your new perennials.

It should now be clear to you why so many people find organic gardening enjoyable. It is quite calming and relaxing to immerse oneself in the rhythms of organic gardening. With the proper application of these suggestions, you will be achieving amazing results in your own organic garden in no time at all!
